How to Know When Your Car Needs a Wheel Alignment

Alignment is the set of angles that determine how your wheels sit relative to the road and to each other. Los Angeles streets knock those angles out of specification over time.

The car pulls to one side

If you have to hold the steering wheel to keep going straight on a flat road, alignment is the first thing to check.

The steering wheel is off center

Driving straight with a crooked steering wheel is a classic alignment symptom.

Uneven tire wear

Run your hand across the tread. If one edge is noticeably more worn than the other, the alignment has been pulling on that tire.

After a pothole or curb strike

A hard hit can move things immediately. If the car feels different afterward, have it checked.

With new tires

Getting the alignment checked when you install new tires protects the money you just spent. Bad alignment can shorten the life of a new set considerably.
